It Godwins Itself

From this morning's Washington Post:
Immigrant Detention Center Proposed in Va.
Facility Would House Illegal Residents Arrested for Crimes Until Deportation
Lessee, here... Country's leaders declare an existential threat from "undesirable" elements they see as usurpers of the national and local economies... Build "special prisons" to hold "those people" -- separate from the non-local-ecomony-threatening regular-guy criminals -- just until they can be "deported"...

I can't think of a single historical precedent, can you?

You Americans are a bunch of pikers, with your half-assed, mealy-mouthed attempts at racial purity laws.

Facility is at it again.

This Administration is made up of criminals, plain and simple. They don't feel the least bit constrained by the law or the Constitution, and they have a demonstrated facility for keeping their schemes secret until it's too late. With the Democrats' apparent inability to curtail them, I am only hoping that their last term runs out (and they agree to leave) before they finish building their detention camps and throw me into one.

Would also probable hold some of us "political undesireables" that the wingnuts are always on about. And speaking of me, where's the rest of the Mobberly Trail. Dude, you can't take us that far down it and then leave us in the dark.

As a person who lives in Virginia, I hope and pray Dems win the Senate in November. If they win, I suspect this proposal will go into the same circular file as other nugwing notions like denying adult students birth control pills, investigating women who have a miscarriage, and other GOP comestibles.

Hmm. Maybe they want to take a quick peek at this NYT article about a New Jersey town that passed a law telling the furrinahs to git outta town... and pretty much killed their local economy in the process. Then again, maybe they just figure that it'll help the economy of whatever town they build this gulag in, and screw the others.

I dunno Neddy. Seems to me that the Japanese internment camps were just as bad. And we still have our Indian reservations. Things are different now though. Gotta pay for all those private contractors to take care of them these days.

An update: Detention center idea dead. Local jails will handle (as I assume has been the case up to now).
