Conversation between myself and Wonder Woman, morning of Friday, July 5, 1991...
Me: We're off work today...
Her: Yes, and...?
Me: Why don't we go to the Justice of the Peace in Upper Marlboro and get married?
And we did.
Best idea we ever had.
September of 2010, we will have been a couple in some form or another for thirty years. Imagine that.

Congrats!
Charming story. Congratulations.
I can imagine it. Met the woman who would become my wife on the night of July 4th, 1975. Best thing that ever happened to me. A few years later, at lunch with co-workers, I asked her if she was happy with "us" still. She said "very", to which I replied, "well, what the hell, do you want to get married?" So romantic, I know. Two months later, we were married by an 82 year old, gun-totin' woman judge in a small New Mexico town at the bar she owned. My wife's maid of honor was a man. My best man was a woman.

Married thirty-one years next month, by the county judge, and still mad about the boy.
Congrats to you and Wonder Woman! And many, many more!
Mine burst out laughing when I proposed (now claims nervousness). I recovered with "no, I'm serious",and she said yes. Persistencewins a round.
"a couple in some form or another for thirty years."
I'm hoping "brother and sister" is not one of those forms.
My wife's father had always told his four beautiful daughters that he would write them a check for $1000 if they would elope. Thirty-six years ago this week, we did and he did.
That seemed like a lot of money then. I tried to marry a couple more of them but no luck.
