Wow, thank goodness I'm not the only one. Thought I was the last RSS holdout...

I mean, seriously.

Fuck geeks. Just fuck 'em and their smug-assed assumption that everybody loves computers as much as they do.

Jesus Christ, who on EARTH but a goddamned code-Morlock would think that a good design would include as its linchpin of interactivity a model whereby the user clicks a little orange pill marked with the spectacularly unhelpful labels "XML" or "RSS," whereupon some utterly incomprehensible gobbledegook pops in a new window, and the expectation is that the user -- oh, let's say my mom for example -- will immediately apprehend that you're supposed to copy the URL in the Location Bar of that new window and paste it into your feed reader?

If that's Really Simple Syndication, then I'd hate to see what their idea of Really Unintuitive, Geek-Assed Fingersniffing Syndication Designed By Propellerheaded Melvins Who Think Computers Are Not a Means To an End But the End Itself.

But I guess RUGAFSDBPMWTCANMTEBEI wouldn't fit on a tiny orange button.

Source of Rant: I'm the guy who has to clean up after your mess. And yes, I know the situation is improving. But not because of anything you did, Dilbert.

gyvrotc, where code-jockeys who think they're fucking UI designers should have spent a little more time in school.

Somewhere, a code-gollum is rubbing its slimy hands together and cackling, "We gets to keep our jobses, my precious!"

--llogu, the word for login in Welsh, which is also the language in which RUGAFSDBPMWTCANMTEBEI is pronounced "Jones".

Sir,

I deeply admire your writing.

Although I often indulge in irony (mine is a dry wit, or a wry dit, or... something nearly clever like that) but I am indulging in rare sincerity here. You write like the angel Gabriel plays trumpet, with style and power and walls come crashing down, and not only do I admire your fluent articulation, I deeply deeply envy it, as well.

I'll be hangin' around. Prob'ly mostly lurkin'. I find when I post a lot, I quickly wear out my welcome. But as Sgt. Buck Atwater once remarked about Texas Ranger Jack Benteen, "I do like your style, suh".

Wow. Thanks, Highlander, I really appreciate your kind words.

Ain't nobody ever worn out his welcome here. (Well -- there was this one Deadhead...) Stick around. Love to have you.

The next round of zossvs is on Highlander...
