The Coming Conflagration

As the first few downy flakes of the END OF THE EAST COAST of the UNITED STATES AS WE KNOW IT!!!!!! fall friskily on the lawn, I post a last missive. The Internet has this tendency to go hooties-up when we get a few inches, and so when I don't post you'll know it's me.

Now I'm gonna take the truck out to the Berlin Pike and abandon it. It's what you do.

Here in WV, we stock up on bread, milk and toilet paper. (I think it's a law...) Being a proud member of the intelligentsia, I went last night and picked up a half gallon of 2%, a loaf of Italian and a loaf of a good, artisan sourdough, and a 12 pack of cushy-cushy two-ply.

Those who waited until today will come home with a week-old package of flaxseed-lentil loaf, some Strawberry Quik, and a few rolls of half-off Xmas wrap. Foil Xmas wrap.

(Dat's why deys so mean!

[roger that] We're hunkered down in DC too. Donning helmets and flak jackets, we wait at the windows for the current light, flirtatious rain to turn to Homeland Security-issued snow. [stop]

I wasn't thinking. Bought a bunch of yogurt yesterday. Coffee's running low. We may have to do reconnaisance. [stop] Out.... [stop]

Having grown up in Hartford, I thought of the Berlin Turnpike also...

Having moved to Boston I too am being hammered by a massive snow storm. But there's beer in the fridge so I'm okay. Power goes out, I'll just have to drink all of it.

So, Ned, what was the final count? 14" at the Fan household ... you must have done better than that, unless you were protected in your little holler...
